Eclipse

Ok, so you're gunna think I'm a total cliche teenage girl, but I'm reading Twilight. Actually, I'm reading the third Twilight. Eclipse. So far, the book has been (I hate to admit it) but good. I really think that it's an original idea, although the media has kinda ruined it. There are so many vampire books, t.v. shows, and movies. Right now, I think that Stephenie Meyer has run out of plot ideas. I hope that the book picks up soon. Bella (the main character) is having internal conflicts between Jacob and Edward (two other main characters). I enjoy action in my books. Until then,

So, I just finished "Would you?" By Marthe Jocelyn. Like, I said, Claire's friends and family are taking it hard that she's in a coma. For example, Kate bursts into tears whenever she talks about it. Also, Joe-Boy (Claire's old boyfriend), goes into a state of depression. Pretty much everyday, Nat goes to the hospital to talk to Claire. At this point in the book, I think Ms. Jocelyn might have run out of ideas, since no new twists or turns are coming up. Although, I guess I was wrong...

Since the E.E.G hasn't worked, they must do some back round information. After finding out that Claire chose to be an organ donor, they sadly announce that it's time to "pull the plug" on Claire. She's dead. Gone. Nat handles it surprisingly well. She has no fits, and she's done with her weird dreams. The end of the book is a scene in Nat's kitchen on Claire's birthday. Her mother makes ten batches of cookie's for Claire. Then, she invites Natalie's friends over after school to eat them.
What a sweet story.

I really enjoyed this book, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a deeply emotional book.

PS I commented on Andrew's blog.

Would You, Part Two

I read more of Would You by Marthe Jocelyn last week. Where did I leave off telling you? Oh, right. The part about how Natalie goes in to visit her sister and tell her things that are going on with her life. Well, until the end of the book, this is pretty much a daily ritual. Soon enough, she is even bathing Claire's feet. Although, just because Claire's life is pretty much put on hold, Natalie's can't be. The whole town knows about Claire, and they are constantly getting food and people coming into their house. Natalie isn't a big fan of this, as she makes known to the readers. The story is told in first person from Natalie's point of view. Actually, Nat hasn't been a big fan of most things lately...

As soon as Nat's boss at the Y hears about the accident, he calls Nat and tells her that if she needs to put her duties as a life guard aside for a couple of weeks, it is totally understandable. I believe that this character was a very nice and realistic addition to this book. Natalie feels like to keep things in order, she must have some things from her old life be the same. Although, she can make a few differences...After one of her shifts at the Y, her crush Zach, shows up. In the middle of the hug, she turns and kisses him, something she's been waiting to do for quite a while! Whenever they talk, for the rest of the book, it's total flirtation!

Now Nat needs to snap back into reality. Claire's in the hospital. She's in a coma. You can tell that Natalie is pretty much tortured. She keeps having dreams about Claire. Soon, Claire's nurses tell the family that they are going to preform an E.E.G. This means that they will see if there is anything going on in Claire's mind. The results are life changing:

Claire is dead.

But her heart is still beating.

I'll finish it this week. For now,

Jocelyn.

Would You?

So, I just started this book called "Would You" by Marthe Jocelyn. Truthfully, I choose the book because her last name is my first name! But when I read the inside cover, I was intrigued.   This book is realistic fiction, which is my favorite genre. Yes, safe, I know. The plot, in my opinion, is very good. Not too many, but the perfect amount of twists and turns. Well, in the first 57 pages anyway. Although, in my opinion, the writing is a bit amateur. Ms. Jocelyn adds in details about just about everything, which makes the book a little more boring than necessary. Actually, the writing reminds me of my own writing! Anyway, on to the book.

The beginning of the book introduces the two main characters, Claire and Natalie. Claire is the pretty older sister going away to college in the fall. Natalie is the cute younger sister who has nothing better to do. You can tell that Claire and Natalie have a great relationship. As soon as Claire says she's going to the movies with a girl named Kate, Nat asks if things are worked out, so you can tell they have been talking about their issues, which I think is a very nice addition to the book. Natalie admits that she has nothing to do, so as soon as Claire leaves, she heads off to the Ding-Dong, a local restaurant to meet some friends and wait for some friends to get off work their. The readers hear a night about bad summer job uniforms, crushes, and how bikes can save lives. After all the conversation, the kids get on their bikes to go pool jumping. Apparently, all the kids are used to pool jumping, which is jumping a fence and jumping into stranger's pools. So, after a night of pool jumping, a run in with the police, and some flirting, the girls head home.

I really like that in this book, the "chapters" aren't even chapters. Some aren't even one page long. This way, it is much easier to foresee what is going to happen. So, now it's Saturday, and Claire has a party planned. While, again, Nat has nothing. Claire leaves for her party and Nat heads off to the Ding-Dong for more of the same as last night, minus the police. At first, I did not like that this group of teens I was reading about went pool jumping, because it made them seem like criminals to me. Although, after a while I actually thought it was a nice addition. This way, they seem more like realistic teenagers, rather than the perfect group of teens that live in a perfect suburb with perfect lawns and a perfect life. The night was fun, but around 11, she starts to head home.

When Nat gets home, she hears some startling news:
Claire has been in a car accident. She's hurt terribly.
Claire describes the moment as "not enough air."

Soon enough, Nat and her parents are in the hospital, Claire is in severe condition, and Nat wants to leave. Her dad drives her home, but goes back with her mother and stays there for the night. The next day, Nat goes back to the hospital and talks to Claire a couple times. I left off right about here. I really enjoy the book and can't wait to read some more. I'll blog about it soon.
